“Write your first draft with your heart. Re-write with your head.”

– From the movie Finding Forrester

The answer is yes. When writing for the web, it is very important to incorporate good search engine optimization. In fact, SEO is essential given the nature of the medium.

Keywords are the candy of search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.  It’s what attracts their “spiders” to your site, first to define you and then to broadcast your message, your offering and your expertise to all.

But it is equally important to remember that we write principally for human beings, not spiders.  Good SEO allows folks to find you. Good, well-written content allows you to keep them, and keep them coming back.

The trick is to balance both, gingerly.
